NORTH CAROLINA WEDDING AND PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER

I’m May, it’s pronounced “my”, and I’d love to get to know you —so I’ll tell you a little about myself while you’re here.

My love for weddings came only after discovering what I didn’t love about them. I hate to admit it, but I felt completely disillusioned after the first time I assisted in shooting a wedding. The entire day consisted of wrangling and micro managing family, stiff posing for the bride and groom, and almost no time for genuine moments to unravel outside of speeches. All of the photography-related interruption and forced posing seemed to take away from the true beauty and meaning of a wedding. But after having time to reflect on this experience I thought, what if it doesn’t have to be that way? I held that thought close to my heart and eventually decided to pursue wedding photography —and to do it through a documentary approach.

As a documentarian, I’m inspired by capturing how moments truly feel, meeting couples who are deeply in love, and experiencing the natural beauty of the world and its people. I connect with couples who want to be truly present on their wedding day but also want to have an iconic celebration that’s unique to them. Blending nostalgic emotions with a timeless, artistic style, I aim to preserve your dearest memories from the most special days of your life —and to have fun together along the way.

A Few Important Notes

1.

I photograph sessions of many kinds, but I absolutely adore weddings, elopements, and maternity. I fell in love with weddings a few years ago and never looked back. The rush, the joy, and the love are my reasons for focusing on weddings. When it comes to maternity photography, I like to say it found me. At the beginning of my career, I received a lot of bookings for maternity photos, and while I was intimidated at first, I’m now over the moon excited every time an expecting mother hires me to document life being created.

3.

My overall editing style is timeless and true to color. When shooting, I like to mix the spontaneity of candid moments with some editorial or magazine-like posing to create an artful gallery of photos. When editing, I like to showcase the true essence of the day while also incorporating a creative flair to bring life to every image. I want you to look back at your gallery a month later and ten years later and still be in love with the style of your photographs.

5.

My personality is laid back, playful, open minded, friendly, and an “extroverted introvert.” If i’m in the right environment you might confuse me as a bubbly extrovert, but I always need time to recharge in the comfort of my home. I do however, love to chat your ears off and love getting to meet new people.

2.

While my overall shooting style is documentary, meaning I capture candid, in-the-moment photographs, I will always prompt and direct you when it’s appropriate. Whether it’s during a bride and groom session or a maternity photoshoot, I’ll guide you in a way that feels natural, fun, and that speaks to your personalities and wishes. I’m here to make you feel confident and relaxed!

4.

My work and creativity is inspired by colors, fashion, natural landscapes, beautiful architecture, travel, and passionate individuals. When I feel a stroke of inspiration, I feel like I have limitless paths to creating beauty.

I’ve always loved looking back at old photographs, especially prints and albums. I still do. I love being transported back to all the times that brought me joy, or daydreaming about what my parents’ life might’ve looked like in a 1980’s Mexico City. These are a few of those photos for me —my parents when they were young, my travels on film, and my love.

MY

WEDDING

PHILOSOPHY

When it comes to wedding days, I describe myself as a fly on the wall that loves to make friends. I want to document the fleeting moments, not get in the way of them happening. If you want someone to bring you along on a full day photoshoot the day of your wedding, that’s not going to be me. But if you want someone attentive, artistic, warm, and friendly, I’m here for you.

At the forefront of your wedding is the intention to celebrate the love and life commitment of you and your partner. I know how easy it can be to lose sight of the meaning of such a special day. But I’m going to remind you that your wedding day is going to be one of the most important days of your life and no one can take that away from you. For that reason, I don’t want my couples to miss out on sharing a drink with their lifelong friend that flew across the country to celebrate them because they were too caught up on deciding the most aesthetic time to put on their earrings, or hug their bridesmaids. If you love your venue and the people you chose to celebrate with you, these things won’t matter. You can put on your jewelry whenever you want and spend time your loved ones and your partner and it’s going to be beautiful.

I want you to be fully present on your wedding day and to allow me to capture all the core memories that you’ll make along the way. I want you to love and party hard because this day only happens once. And don’t worry, I’ll be there to guide you when you need it.
